Not being an economist by trade or inclination, I have to confess I thought the investment conference 'Rise and Shine Estonian. How to Make the Most of the Recovery' might perhaps tend towards to dull side. In the event however, I thought this event was extremely interesting and really did have something for everyone. Ardi Roosimaa with the BECC Investment Special Interest Group together with Agnes and Petriina did well to invite a range of speakers who took the trouble to speak to their audience on the topic. The keynote speakers, Sir John Stuttard (PWC) and Daniel Franklin (The Economist) both drew on a wealth of experience and spoke with a great deal of authority.
I had no idea the roots of the current crisis lay in the success of the Chinese economy and was amazed and amused in turn by some of Peep Mühils' statistics and Andrus Alber's witticisms. Veiko Sepp and Peeter Saks were both upbeat and rightly proud of their success. If he every gets tired of the family business, Märt Haamer definitely has a future as a motivational speaker. Finally, we liked the slogan 'SmartEST' so much that we decided to apply for trademark protection.
